Dragon Boat Club needs more parking – or does it?
Case Studies
How the Roam™ app applies
True ridesharing coordinated with the Roam™ app is a solution that can address the anticipated logistical challenges in alignment with the club’s community-building goals. The Club’s Strategic Plan has a goal of becoming the premier Dragon Boating program for the diverse population living within an hour’s drive of its facilities, the Roam™ solution would provide an ideal community experience, reducing the number of vehicles needed as well as the corresponding parking.
What’s the situation?
The Annapolis Dragon Boat Club (ADBC) is a sport and social club that seeks to develop healthy bodies and spirits and build a community through Dragon Boating for those impacted by breast cancer, and others. The Strategic Plan for 2025-2027 projects a 25% increase in the number of practices, races, and training sessions. Each of these requires prompt arrival – but parking on public streets can be a challenge and cause delays. Many of the activities are designed to develop supportive bonds amongst the members and their families and friends in order to achieve strong member retention.
What’s the Problem?
As the Club seeks to serve the growing demand for its activities, organizers want to be able to offer sufficient and accessible facilities. The ADBC may need to bring up to three boats, sixty athletes, and support coaches into a boathouse located in a densely-populated, suburban setting. The Club conducts as many as three practices or events daily during the height of boating season. Current street parking is barely adequate and anticipated city ordinances will reduce it even more. The challenge is so significant that even a new location may be considered.
